Studies of General medicine and Dental medicine are difficult and many students opt for the option to transfer their studies to different universities in Europe. All renowned Universities in Europe are following the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) that makes completed credit tests and exams recognizable abroad. I have prepared a complete list of universities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia, and other countries, that accept transfer students. The common rule is that each university has different rules for transfer students. Universities in the same country usually have similar curricula which makes chances for transfers higher.
Universities might call the procedure of transferring also as recognition of subjects. The difference is that with the transfer you simply submit your transcripts and syllabuses with other required documents, get your subjects recognized, and continue your studies at a new university. With subjects/credits recognition, you get accepted to the 1st year, ask for recognition of completed subjects, and enroll in a higher year based on the decision of professors. To make this article simpler, I will call both procedures transfers, as the result is the same – enrollment in the higher year. If the steps for transfers and recognition at a given university are different, both ways will be described.
Universities usually offer transfers to 2nd and 3rd year, but several universities allow also 4th-year transfers (Medical University of Silesia in Poland, Faculty of Medicine UPJS in Kosice, Slovak Medical University in Slovakia, University of Split in Croatia) or 5th-year transfers (Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Slovakia, or Faculty of Medicine in Croatia) in exceptional cases.
There are universities, that accept transfer students to Spring intake: Medical University of Silesia in Poland, Riga Stradins University in Latvia and University of Mostar in Bosnia and Hercegovina (Bosnia is non-EU country).
2024 update: I added curricula for medical universities.
Important: Every recognition and transfer is possible only after comparing completed courses at your university and transfer university. I had many cases when students were provided misleading or false information by scammy agencies that caused studies extension. Please double check too good to be true information with your desired University.
As I got plenty of emails from students from Ukraine, I wrote a few notes about an affordable university for transfer of medical studies in Europe located in Bosnia.

List of medical schools that accept transfer students in Europe
1. Czech Republic
Universities in the Czech Republic are not an obvious destination for transfer students. Firstly, the conditions for transfers are difficult to meet (e.g. requirement to have marks A and B at the 1st faculty of Medicine Charles University in Prague) or impossible (Pilsen Faculty) and secondly requirement to have a certificate of the Czech language. This makes transfers limited mostly to students from the Czech Republic or theoretically Slovakia.
First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University
The faculty offers a General medicine (600.000CZK) – 6-year program and a Dental medicine (600.000CZK) – 5-year program.
Transfers are possible in general – but only exams that have been marked with marks Excellent (A) or Very good (B), will be recognized. Every student has to take an entrance examination and apply for the 1st year of study. After the recognition process, a student may ask to be accepted to 3rd year maximally. The deadline for transfers usually ends at the beginning of May. There is no guarantee, that a student will be placed in the higher study year.
All compulsory subjects need to be completed (Czech language and Physical education included) if a student wants to be enrolled in the higher study year.
Recognition of completed studies is not possible during the academic year, only in the second half of September.
If a student decides to transfer his/her previous studies, there are the following rules to be followed. According to Dean´s Provision no. 13/2015, only exams with marks Excellent (A) and Very good (B) can be recognized. Application forms for recognition on each subject must be submitted together with a transcript of records from previous studies and a university study report (index) from the previous school. Finally, the applicant must attach the syllabus from the previous study confirmed by the previous school. Vice-dean of the Faculty will decide, which subjects will be recognized. Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University
The second Faculty of Medicine in Prague accepts a small number of transfer students for the course General medicine (6 years program with tuition fees of 420.000CZK). The average of your marks must be 1,5 or below (which includes also repeated subjects). Knowledge of the Czech language is also necessary, which means you will need to provide a language certificate of the Czech language or pass the Czech exam. For more details, the website of the Second faculty of Medicine, Charles University

The date from completion of the exam in General medicine cannot be older than 8 years and for Dental medicine not older than 7 years. The student needs to apply with the application form and deliver it to the study office. Every application is considered individually after the submission of all documents. For more information, you can check the Faculty of Medicine on the Hradec Kralove website.
Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Pilsen
There are 2 programs offered: General medicine and Dental medicine. The faculty does not accept any transfer students due to limited capacity.

Every student, who wishes to transfer to the Faculty of Medicine Masaryk University must sit and pass the entrance exam. No exceptions are granted. The recognition of completed subjects is considered only for former students from Masaryk University. The rule is that there cannot be over 3 years between the completion of the subject and re-enrollment to the university. Previous studies anywhere outside MU (of any duration) will not be recognized and any completed courses considered. Accepted students elsewhere will always be enrolled in the first year. After passing entrance exams, only subjects completed in the last 3 years are recognized, only marks A-D are recognized. It is required to submit original transcripts of records and syllabuses of subjects. Students must pass the entrance exam for biology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics and ask for recognition of completed subjects after passing it. The recognition of subjects is accepted only from the same study program (so from General medicine to General medicine, Dental medicine to Dental medicine).
Important information regarding transfers to the Medical Faculty of Palacky University – if you wish to transfer from universities outside of the Czech Republic, it is not possible, because you need to have all subjects from the 1st year completed. This means that even if you miss one subject, you cannot proceed to the second year. There are a total of 6 semesters of Czech language in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years. The same applies to students, who have been students of Olomouc medical faculty but didn’t complete all of their subjects. They need to complete pending subjects, only then they can move to the 2nd year.

Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest
The University offers program in General medicine and Dental medicine.
The admission with transfer at the Faculty of Medicine is made without passing an admission exam and depends on the available places and the number of equivalent ECTS credits, from the highest to the lowest. The equivalence is made only by the professors of the Faculty of Medicine in September when they meet for transfer’s file evaluation. The committee of the Faculty of Medicine will evaluate the documents from the previous university (transcripts of records for all the years of study and the syllabus) and will decide which courses are equivalent and how many transfer examinations (equivalence examinations) the candidate must take.
The registration for transfer can be made only in person or by someone else on behalf of the candidate, with a power of attorney, at faculty department and the Secretariat of the Faculty of Medicine. After submission, the documents will be analyzed by the Transfer Committee and a result will be communicated to the candidates, by the Secretariat of the Faculty, no earlier than mid-October (according to the past experiences). In terms of the grades obtained at the previous university, it would be indicated, of course, to be as high as possible, but all the grades obtained are taken into account, as long as the respective exam is passed. The transcript must contain the name of the subject, the grade obtained and the number of ECTS credits. Beside the transcript, students must also apply with the syllabus (description of the subjects).
The documents for transfer are exactly the same as for the admission in the first year (passport, birth certificate, high school diploma, transcript of records from high school, medical certificate stating that the candidate is apt for studies, English certificate – B1 level), the extra documents being the transcript of records from the previous university and the syllabus for the medical program for all the years of study at the previous university. According to the university regulations, it’s not possible to transfer in the last year of study (6th year); a student can be enrolled in the 5th year at most.
