Study program General medicine (GM) is one of the most popular study programs for international students. It lasts for 6 years and is organized into 12 semesters. Absolvents are awarded the degree of “Doctor of General Medicine” that is recognized not only in the European Union but almost all over the world. A graduate has adequate theoretical knowledge of pre-clinical subjects and clinical disciplines. Practical training aims at mastering basic preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. Programs listed below have ECTS accreditations, which means students can go for study exchanges in Europe and they can work in the European Union after graduation.
The study is comprehensive and reputable thanks to complex education focused on therapy, prevention of diseases, diagnosis, and differential diagnostics. Students form groups of 8-15 people (depending on the university), within which they attend seminars or practicals. - About the program: The standard course of study lasts six years (12 semesters). Each academic year starts in September and lasts till the end of August of the following year. The academic year is divided into two semesters, the winter semester (spread over September till February) and the summer semester (spread over February till August). After passing the state examination the graduate is conferred the degree MUDr. – Medicinae Universae Doctor (Doctor of Medicine).
Since the academic year 2001/2002, the credit system has been introduced that is compatible with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Courses during the first to third year provide theoretical and pre-clinical lectures, labs and practical classes, the remainder of the fourth to sixth year include diverse clinical experiences.
