Faculty of Pharmacy, Comenius University in Bratislava

The Faculty of Pharmacy is part of Comenius University and is located in Bratislava, Slovakia. It provides a Study Programme ‘Pharmacy’ which is fully compatible with the system of preparation of pharmacists within the EU. The Faculty is a member of the European Association of Pharmaceutical faculties.

The Faculty of Pharmacy in Bratislava was established in 1952 and has over 11.000 graduates. The Faculty has over 1000 students, 9 professors, and 30 associate professors in 11 departments. It is the only faculty in Slovakia that raises pharmacy professionals. The Faculty of Pharmacy cooperates with scientific institutions in Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Hungary.

An interesting fact is that the faculty runs the Medicinal Plant Garden, where medicinal plants are grown and preserved for research and education on an area of 1.5 hectares, while the gene pool of the garden includes approximately 850 plant species.

The study program of Pharmacy

The Faculty offers an English study program in Pharmacy (5 years, 300 ECTS credits). It costs 7500€ per academic year (2 semesters). The study program fully complies with the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the recognition of professional qualifications. There are 80 seats offered for international students.

Graduates may find employment in the field of health care, in institutions of drug quality control, at work sites of clinical pharmacy, hygienic service, research, education of health care professionals, and others. Graduates are awarded the degree of PharmDr.

Admission process at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Comenius University

The admission is based on submitted documents and written entrance exam tests. Applicants need to submit documents in electronic form (CV, nostrification confirmation, copy of academic documents, medical report, copy of birth certificate, copy of passport, and receipt of payment of application fee) and deliver it in paper form to the faculty. Applicants will then receive an invitation to an online test in biology and chemistry. The deadline for application is the end of July. Admitted students need to submit nostrification confirmation in order to receive a final admission letter for visa puirposes.

Entrance exam test at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Comenius University

The entrance exam consists of 50 questions from biology and 50 questions from chemistry. You can purchase preparatory materials from the faculty to improve your passing chances. Tests are organized by the Faculty between February and August.
